[History]:
Wiki

[Personality]:

Haruka is a kind-hearted, sensitive girl, whose greatest wish is to bring happiness to others through song. That being said she’s also very timid, unsure of herself with a lousy sense of direction. There are a few occasions during the course of the series where she has gotten lost. When that happens she’s more likely to panic than react calmly and rationally. Haruka is very well-meaning but she can crack under pressure, or hesitate in unusual situations. She wants to believe the best in people which can lead her to be very naive and over trusting. An example of this is when Natsuki’s split personality is in control he threatens to take advantage of Haruka. Even though she’s frightened, she doesn’t try to stop him leading him to question why. She responds that Natsuki is a good person, and he’d never do anything to hurt someone. That was enough to stop Satsuki however had it been someone else then she could have been in terrible danger.

For all her faults, she’s also a very diligent person. She understands that she’s chosen a difficult profession and is willing to work hard to achieve her goals. When she first started attending Saotome Academy, she didn’t even know how to read sheet music. Once she realized that she was the only student who couldn’t she devoted most of her time to hitting the books and studying until she understood it completely. In class she had become paralyzed with the fear of having to play the piano in front of everyone again, but with the encouragement and confidence boost from Masato she was able to over come this too. So while Haruka might freeze at first, and be unable to find her way she doesn’t simply give up, and run away. The one exception to that comes at the end of the series when she’s informed by Saotome that she will no longer be able to write music for the members of the newly formed Starish group. Feeling a bit cheated, since she wrote the music that got them passed the finals and also feeling crushed she did run away to her grandmother’s home. She feels the most comfortable here, and the retreat gave her time to think about what she should do. She does however recover from even this disappointment and returns to assert her position.

There is another bad habit of hers. Haruka can be terribly hard on herself. She gets frustrated when she feels she’s not performing at her best, or if she feels like her lack of progress is hindering the singer she’s currently partnered with. Instead of looking to others for help, she internalizes it and will beat herself up over it. It sometimes takes the intervention of others to coax her out of these sorts of moods.

She’s very supportive of others, and is always trying to encourage others to reach for their own goals and dreams. When a movie role comes up that Shou desperately wants to land for himself in order to work alongside one of his heroes, Haruka is able to empathize with him since she has always had the dream of wanting to write a song for the person who saved her when she was having a panic attack in the middle of a busy street. In another instance Ren was going through a period where he doubted if he should even be attending Saotome academy at all. He slacked off, failed to turn in his homework a lot to the point that he was going to be kicked out if he didn’t turn in his latest assignment. Ren defiantly tore his work up, and tossed it aside. Haruka took it upon herself to search for it endlessly until she found all the pieces. Watching her do something like that was one factor that helped turn Ren around. To think that anyone cared that much.

Haruka is fairly self-sacrificing and honest. She also has a weakness for children. On the day of the school’s entrance exams, she was late getting there because she stopped to help a lost child find their mother. In a later episode when Ittoki and Haruka visit an orphanage she is very interactive with the kids.

[Abilities / Strengths & Weaknesses]:

- Haruka is a budding composer with a natural talent for it. She might struggle over finding the right melody at first but when compared to the other students who have been studying music for a lot longer she does exceptionally well. Music has always been a big part of her life, and it will likely remain so. Canonly, she has worked with several different vocalists, and composed a variety of songs for them, including group numbers. She does have some experience to go along with it even if there is more to learn.

- She has no physical strengths to note. When she was younger she was a physically weak child, who was sent to live with her grandma during her formative years. While she has become healthier since that time, it still remains an area that is not her forte (terrible musical puns..ahoy). She has no combat experience, and would be against hurting anyone if she could help it. There is much in this new land that she will find difficult to cope with.

- Personality wise Haruka has a lot of patience with people which oftentimes allows her to get closer to them. She’s a good listener, and a sensitive person. Being able to relate to people in this way could be considered a strength. It should enable her to get along with a wider variety of people, who she’ll be partially depending on during her stay in this new world. Conversely, her anxiety could get the better of her here. There are a lot of dangerous situations she could run into that are so divergent from anything she’d run into in the music academy. There are times when she could easily freeze up and be unable to move out of harms way, like a deer caught in the headlights. She can be very determined.. so with the right influences she could turn this situation around and find a way to excel here.

- Another weakness is her lack of sailing experience. The school went on a field trip once to the beach, but she never had to man a vessel or anything to get there.

[Limited Powers]:

Haruka has average abilities, so there isn’t much need to limit them.

Dear Grandmother,

[Haruka was in the habit of writing to her grandmother regularly, so she decided to continue the habit not realizing that everyone could read her private letter. If only she hadn't written it in the journal.]

I’ve found myself in a strange land. I have no explanation for how I got here or what’s expected of me. I would think that it was a dream but nothing I’ve tried has woken me up. I am completely beside myself and I don’t know what I should do.

I don’t know anyone here..... and the local residents..... well..... I get the feeling they don’t want any outsiders here.

[It was about this time that she noticed words forming on the page that were not her own. Other people were writing in her journal? How? She was the only one here.. and what was worse was that they were responding to what she said]

[voice]

KYA!

[Followed by a loud thud. The journal had been tossed in Haruka’s confusion and embarrassment. This wasn’t meant for anyone’s eyes but her grandmother! She hadn’t written anything too personal had she?]

[Written]

I’m... please forgive me for the outburst, and.. for that letter. [She was beginning to question her own sanity. This abnormal journal was a little tooooo magical for her]

Can- can everyone really see everything that’s written in this journal? Who are all of you?
